The Methodist Church in Kenya (MCK) is saddened by the recent Tana River massacre leading to over 50 deaths most of them women and children. Our hearts and sympathies go out to the bereaved families and the entire community.
We unreservedly condemn those senseless killings which should not have any place in Kenya today. The massacre comes barely a week after the burning of 110 homes and the killing of cows making it one of the bloodiest witnessed since the 2007 and 2008 post election violence.
The Methodist church wishes to announce the appointment of a new Presiding Bishop, Rev. Joseph Ntombura, who will assume office in January, 2013 next year.
The Methodist ministries center building block c was officially opened on Thursday the 23rd August, 2012 by is excellency the vice president of Kenya Kalonzo Musyoka. Block C is the newly completed office block of the Methodist ministries center building which is a development of the Methodist Church in Kenya.
The vice president planted a tree on the grounds of the new building to commemorate the opening occasion and commended the Methodist Church in Kenya for carrying out such a development.
The Methodist Church In Kenya will hold its 47th annual conference on the 20th to the 26th of August, 2012 at the Methodist guest house and conference center. The annual conference is held every year and is attended by delegates from the different synods of the Methodist church in Kenya.
The Methodist church in Kenya has been in existence for 150 years now. This is a good time for us to pause and ponder on what the Lord has done. It is also time to re-examine ourselves and consider our ways and walk with the Lord. It is by His grace that we have come this far.
