The Methodist Church in Kenya held a five day training for Methodist ministers and members who were drawn from different Methodist synods in the in the country. The training was held in Kijabe town at Care of creation Kenya. Farming God's Way is the deliberate effort to bring God
back into the center of how we view and practice agriculture, as a means of demonstrating our love for God and for people of both current and future generations.
It seeks to blend a strong biblical and moral commitment for agricultural stewardship with practices on the ground that bring restoration and healing to the land, resulting in improved crop productivity for the sake of the hungry and for the glory of God. It recognizes that how we do agriculture should be an act of worship that reflects our devotion to the creator and our desire to bring hope to the poor.
The training was carried out by Craig Sorley, the founding director of Care of Creation Kenya, which is an evangelical organization that is dedicated to awakening the Church to glorify God in the area of environmental and agricultural stewardship.
During the training the participants were taught the different aspects of agricultural stewardship such as how they can greatly improve the yields of their farms, how to conserve forests, how to stop soil erosion and the role of Christians in the practice of Godly agriculture.
At the end of the training the participants were equipped with manuals & reading material on farming God's way so that they could also teach other people in their churches about farming God's way as well as being an examples on their farms that could be emulated by others.
